It has been said that the church is the only institution that exists primarily for the benefit of others, especially those outside its membership. If we take seriously the Great Commandment (to love the Lord with all our heart, mind, and soul and to love our neighbors as ourselves) and the Great Commission (to go out into all the world and preach the gospel), then we will be actively involved in the mission of ministry to others and ministries for others.
Oakland Presbyterian Church has sought to be faithful to our calling, both abroad, and in our own backyard. We see ourselves as “partners in mission” with the organizations and people we support with our gifts of money, time, and service. Here you will find information about serving those within the church, serving through many worthy Christian organizations, and by volunteering with others to provide Christian based opportunities for education, sports and scouting. We offer this information in the hopes that it will enlighten you in regard to some of the great things God is doing through ordinary people, and challenge you to get more involved.
If you have any questions about how you can minister to others as you answer God’s call to serve, contact the person listed each service or organization, or you may contact the church office at 407-656-4452. The office will be able to direct your call to the person or persons who might best be able to assist you in your desire to serve.
