Meet the Staff

Dr. Robert P. Hines, Jr. – Pastor  Pastor Bob was born and raised in Beaver, PA. He majored in history at Maryville College, and it was there that he met his wife, Pat.  After graduation, Bob and Pat moved to New Jersey, where he got his seminary degree from Princeton Theological Seminary.  Pastor Bob’s first call took him to Ohio, where he serve two churches — in Cadiz and Jewett.  After four years, he accepted a call to serve Calvin Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City, PA, where he served for 18 years.  While there he received his Doctor of Ministry degree in stewardship from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.  In 2002, Pastor Bob came to Oakland to serve as the pastor here. Bob has served on several Presbytery committees as member and chair, and as a commissioner to the General Assembly. Bob is the author of Buying Swamp Land for God, a book of lectionary based sermons published by CSS Press. In his spare time, Bob likes to read, watch movies, travel, root for the Pirates and Steelers, and spend time with friends and family. He and his wife have two adult children. Their son, Chris, lives in New Orleans, and their daughter, Erin, lives with her husband, Charlie, and son in Virginia.
Tiffany Goggans – Director of Christian Education   Tiffany began her ministry at Oakland in October of 2007.  She received her Bachelor of Arts in Child Psychology at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA.  In 2007, she earned a Master of Arts degree in Christian Education from Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, VA.  As Director of Christian Education, Tiffany oversees the education ministry of the church for children, youth, and adults.  She is the steam behind our church’s highly successful UPWARD Sports Program.  She also equips and trains our volunteers for educational ministry.  Tiffany and her husband, Israel, have a daughter, Charlotte Elizabeth.  They enjoy the beach, cooking and watching movies together.
Michael Shortal – Director of Music   Michael joined our staff in September 2015. Originally from the Winter Park area, Michael has a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance and a Master’s degree in Choral Conducting, both from the University of Tennessee. He has served as the Director of Music for the Lincoln Park United Methodist Church in Knoxville and the North Naples United Methodist Church. He served briefly as the Director of Choral Activities at Evans High School in Orlando, and has experience as a Pipe-Organ builder for several years in Tennessee. He was most recently a “Choral Scholar” at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke, serving as the leader of the baritone section of the choir, assisting in conducting rehearsals, and playing the organ when called upon to do so.
Bonnie Litteral – Director of Children’s Choirs  Bonnie began directing children’s choirs at Oakland in the fall of 1986, and  now has three choirs ranging in age from preschool through fifth grade.  She is also the director for the Summer Music Camp. She received her Bachelor of Music, Vocal Performance degree from Stetson University in 1974, a Master’s degree, magna cum laude, from Boston Conservatory, and was an apprentice artist at Sante Fe Opera in 1980. Bonnie holds Level I and Level II Orff certifications, serves on the board of the Central Florida Orff Chapter, and is president of the Central Florida Chapter of Choristers Guild.Bonnie teaches elementary music to five hundred students, at Princeton Elementary, and has twice been selected as Teacher of the Year.Bonnie is active in the adult choir and Presbyterian Women. She has been married to Jack since 1971, and they have three children: Lisa, “JT” Jack, and Kristin, a son-in-law Charlie and grandson Andy.
Diane Flager – Organist  Born in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, Diane received her Bachelor in Elementary Education from East Stroudsburg University and is certified in Middle School Language Arts.  She has been a teacher for 34 years. Diane moved to Florida in 1980, and has never regretted it.  She served as assistant organist for Community United Methodist Church in Casselberry, before becoming a full time organist and pianist for Oakland Presbyterian over 10 years ago.  Diane is married to Mark, who works as an accountant for a local car leasing firm. Diane’s daughter, April, is a Dr. of Clinical Psychology, working for the Veterans Administration in Orlando. Diane is available for weddings and funerals and thoroughly enjoys being a part of the wonderful spiritual music ministry at Oakland.
Alecia Alecia Spence — Bookkeeper/Financial Secretary  Alecia was born in Orlando and has lived in West Orange County all of her life. She graduated from West Orange High School, received her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Florida Southern College and is a Certified Public Accountant. She has worked as an accountant for 29 years, 15 years as a Public Accountant. She has been married to her high school sweetheart, Rick , for 28 years and they are active members of First Baptist Church of Orlando. They have twins, Caleb and Cassandra, who will be Juniors at Dr. Phillips High School in the fall of 2015. Alecia enjoys reading, movies and spending time with family and friends.
Dan Bray – Property Manager  Dan joined the OPC staff in October 2012. Born and raised in Olathe, Kansas, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 – 1973. Dan moved to Clermont and lived there from 1978 until 1996 working for ARAMARK Services. He lived in Georgia, Colorado and Kansas working for the uniform supply industry. Retiring in 2007, Dan managed an apartment complex in his hometown of Olathe from 2007 until 2012, when he moved back to Clermont. Dan and his wife, Winni, have one son (Todd) and one wonderful grandson (J.R.) who is currently in nursing school, set to graduate December 2013.
Laurie Templin – Preschool Director  Laurie was born and raised in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a BS degree in Hospitality Management. Laurie enjoyed a career with Walt Disney World as an area restaurant manager, opening Disney Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Paris. Her experience also includes five years in Japan in association with Tokyo Disneyland. Laurie has her staff and directors credentials through the state of Florida, as well as VPK certification.  Laurie taught at Second Presbyterian Preschool in Knoxville, TN as well as Trinity Christian Academy in Orlando.
 biopicstacey Stacey Gillespie – Administrative Assistant  Stacey joined our staff in March of 2016. She was born and raised in St. Augustine, FL. She attended college there at Flagler and graduated cum laude with a BA in English. Flagler is where she met her husband, Joe. She previously worked for 8 years in the health insurance industry before leaving the workforce in order to stay home to raise her children. She now lives in downtown Winter Garden with Joe and their 4 children: Lyla, Logan, Noah, and Owen. Lyla and Logan are graduates of our Oakland Presbyterian Preschool. When Stacey is not spending time at home with her family, she enjoys visiting her parents and large extended family in St. Augustine. She also loves to bake.
